Who is SHE???

It’s Sunday evening, the most beautiful day of the week for her. And she’s sitting aside feeling privileged to have the affluence of a few hours to think about herself and her life. Within a few hours it will be 11 o’ clock, the time to go to bed and then her eyes will open up to a new day, ready with all the targets she has to meet, starting with getting ready for the office and rushing in her car beating all the traffic, so as to reach there by 10 o’ clock.

She is working in an MNC with highly competitive work environment and has many deadlines to meet, new projects to work, once again from Monday on. She is another confident, smart and intelligent woman who wants to be versatile and play her part well. So apart from working in office throughout the day, meeting several people and resolving all the issues and problems that come up, she also concentrates on more polished communication skills and attractive personality so as to not be laid back in that sphere. She has recognized that it is essential to keep update with the events going around to keep her well-informed.

In order to keep up with her fast paced world and let her keep working as she loves to do that, she also requires to pay due attention to her health as well with daily exercise and proper balanced meals. As she’s not living with her mother anymore, it’s she herself who has to take care of these things too, Although her husband is very supportive, it’s she who has to see the things are working orderly in her household, it’s she who has to keep a tab on the work that house help does.

Since work consumes most of the week, she dwells upon spending time with her family as well. She opines that running commitment after commitment will consume her whole life and the time will be up, so she  makes it a point to pursue her hobbies too and foresees going on regular vacations and breathe easy, take time out for movies, candlelight dinners, evening stroll, meeting friends and much more during weekends.

And today, she is sitting and wondering how all her needs, desires and aspirations have directed how she spends most of her time. She wants to do all this but in order to let the things keep moving in right direction, she will always need this luxury of some free time to think about.

Now are you wondering who she is? I guess no, because it can be the story of anyone of us. She is you, she is me, She is the woman of today. Balanced life has much wider definition when it comes to a woman’s life. And that’s true!!!

Wait…before you can have this one!!!

I know it’s too late to post this but I couldn’t find some other better way to publish this. My hubby is fond of photography, which is one of the reasons why we purchased a camera with some advanced features. And now he’s trying his hands at clicking some admirable shots. One of them is here, which was actually our new year cake. He took so many shots before he could click up to his satisfaction. And I simply loved this one.

Generating ideas for your daily posts

People born with artistic inclination towards writing and an active imaginative right brain, are often readily perceptible in the formative years, when they are taught comprehensive writing in school. But being gifted does not make sure that one can turn into a successful writer as well. The skill of writing, still needs to be polished to produce some work, worth reading.

There is infinite data available that can guide you How to Develop Creative Writing Skills. In order to stretch your writing muscles, one should start with small steps/exercises and I feel your blog is the right platform to let the creative juices flow and grow further in steps. Here is something that I have realized in all these days of my blogging experience.

How blogging helps you hone your writing skills?

1. Small steps: The key to improvement is always in starting with small steps. One can easily undergo small writing exercises in form of daily blog posts, which is again essential (writing daily) for betterment. This can serve as your daily journal.

2. Exercising you brain: When you are writing something to published publicly, it will definitely let you rethink about the quality and validity of your post or content before clicking the ‘publish’ button. Hence it helps us put our brain into doing something influential.

3. Knowledge expansion: Writing about a particular topic, lets you enhance your knowledge and insight about the same.

4. Reading other blogs: Reading other blogs, subscribing to the favourite ones-can help us understand what sort of work we like.

5. Feedback from readers: Writing on a blog always gives you an added advantage of getting feedback from readers. If you are open to healthy criticism, you can learn much more.

Hence to make the fullest utilization of blogging, one should write regularly. And that’s why, many of us have taken up this as a resolution: to post daily. But when it comes to writing daily, the next concern that comes up, is the topics or ideas for writing.

Word press too has brought out a great idea of The Daily Post for challenging all the bloggers to write daily, but they can simply offer us the prompts, which may or may not match our interests or goals. We still need to keep our brains functioning to produce some original quality work and do your own thing.

How to get new ideas for your blog?

1. Reading material: Browsing through as many websites, newspapers, articles, magazines and other online resources as possible and pick your interest areas. Any small incidence can trigger a fabulous idea.

2. Observation: Paying attention to the things going around, observing the people and incidents around closely can derive a new idea.

3. Creative writing: Going through lessons, tutorials, tips etc. for developing creative writing and enhancing vocabulary can help us have better command on the language.

4. Analysis: Analyzing the things from your own perspective can turn you share your viewpoints with the rest of the world.

There are probably several other ways to strike a new idea or prompt for writing daily. Your ideas too are most welcomed! Please share.

12 ways to stay happy

There is always a longing within all of us: making us happy, and it is that yearning which drives most of our actions. Many of us take resolutions to stay happy and enjoy our lives but the unpredictable and capricious life, does not let us move consistently.

A long time back, I received an email forward from a friend, suggesting ways to stay happy. Those thoughts moved me strongly and since then, I keep this chart there on my desk so that whensoever, something makes me depressed, I can go through it and get back to normal.

After all, Sidonie Gabrielle has said this right, “Be happy. It’s one way of being wise.”

So I just thought of sharing the same with you all. Hope this helps even a bit and let you too be happy.

How can I ever forget that Job Interview/Torture?

Posted on

Job interviews: the name itself, is so flashy that it gives you butterflies in your stomach. Whether it is for your first job or you are just switching jobs, its spell doesn’t seem to achromatize. I also underwent one of the interviews that was nothing less than an adventurous feat. It was 2 years back, we were just back from a friend’s wedding in Rohtak that morning. And I had an interview scheduled for 12 noon. Everything was going smooth, there was adept correspondence with the consultant about the interview details and I had confirmed, I will be reaching there at the prearranged time.

So all excited, all set, I got ready and left for the day. At that time, I didn’t have my conveyance, so I hired a cycle rickshaw to the place. And it’s only the residents of Gurgaon, who know, how bad the public conveyance is there, in the city. Metro has been a great respite but still the problem to commute within the city persists. Yes! I reached the venue around 10-15 minutes before the time, to have my first impression of being punctual. But the place seemed fishy, I inquired at the entrance gate and they told me, “They used to have an office here, but now they have shifted around 2 months back and we have no idea where the new office is.” Damn! I was too startled to see how nonchalant and reckless can somebody be. They are holding an interview and they didn’t even care to keep the consultant updated with the new address.  I called her up and apprised her of the scenario. She too got abashed and tailored the things with the company.

Oh! it was too hot noon in the month of April and I had already cruised by a rickshaw since past 30 minutes. :(  The new location was quite far, how far, I had no clue. Now I was in a total dilemma-should I continue with my impulse of visiting the new venue or quit and go back? I asked the rickshaw wala if he can take me up to the new location. He was quite keen and assured me too, that I need not worry; I will reach there all well. Keeping up with his spirits, I too, took it as a challenge to reach that lousy place and not back out.

The rick went on and on… After a particular stretch, he would stop and interrogate for the address. It was getting sickening now, he paused for a glass of water and said “Madam you may also have one. You must also be exhausted.” And I was wondering, how he could be so enthusiastic in such a harsh sun, he wasn’t going for an interview! And the one, who was actually going, had already decided not to take up that job in any case. Finally, after a huge turmoil of moving on a cycle rickshaw for around 90 minutes on the National Highway, we somehow reached the venue. There was a pungent smell of factories all around. I paid 200 bucks to the rickshaw (which is quite much, but it seemed okay for such a long distance) and went in, all with a frenzied mind.

Thankfully, they didn’t let me wait for long and the HR manager called me and the technical person in his cabin. As I entered, he didn’t defer to say, “You were supposed to come at 12 noon and it’s 2.00 pm now.” And phew! that was the limit. I couldn’t take it anymore. I conveyed my fury about the whole scene, all the inconvenience I had due to their negligence. :(  And then there was another surprise waiting for me. He examined my resume and said, “We are looking for a person with architectural background who can work on industrial projects and help us in architectural part related to it.” Goshh! now my patience had crossed all the limits and I almost refused to continue further with the interview. I have taken a full day off for them, I am working in a reputed company and working on large commercial projects and these people didn’t even bother to tell what profile exactly they are looking for? The consultant had informed me that it is an opening for an architect to work on multi-storied commercial and retail projects, but the scenario was much more deplorable than it seemed when I was on the rickshaw.

They were still insisting on the interview and asked me assorted questions about my work profile, achievements at current job, problem solving and what not. And I know, I have never performed better in any other interview till date. All my frustration, I was venting out in the response to their questions. They finally said, “we are shortlisting you and will inform you about the next proceedings. Please be assured, we’ll be paying you a good amount.” I simply came out keeping the decorum of the interview and left by shifting around 3-4 autos, without even thinking about the whole nightmare I had during this day. I was so frazzled that I slept for around 3-4 hours after again covering those 20 km and still couldn’t recuperate completely.

After 2 days, I received an enticing call from their consultant, “Madam, congratulations! they have shortlisted you and are offering you a very good package. You are requested to please go for another round of interview there and do rest of the formalities.” I simply refused that I am not interested. But I had to explain as well. She called me 2-3 more times, but I was firm and the reason I quoted was “it doesn’t serve my long-term professional goals, so I am sorry.”

Only I know, how relinquished I was after refusing and not receiving any further call. And since then, I am too much in love with my present job. I am very much clear and selective now, that I won’t go anywhere unless until I get something better than this!
